Update #5 Ukraine (2019)

Hello!

Im writing to you at 11:30am which will most likely be the middle of the night for you, so I hope this email finds you well, as you wake up from a restful night of sleep!

Since our team arrived in Ukraine we have jumped right into ministry. We have been doing a lot of work with the ministries YWAM Kyiv partners with here in Ukraine. Our students have been doing a great job at leading worship multiple times a week here at the base. They have also been helping with the school that YWAM Kyiv started. The goal of the school is to give the kids in Ukraine a better chance at having a christian education that allows them to learn and think freely (because schooling in Ukraine tends to be manipulative, controlling, and abusive). The base has allowed our students to take over their preschool, 1&2 grade, 5th grade, and 8th grade classes, where they have been teaching English and ministering to the kids while building relationships with them.

These are some pictures of our team working with Ukrainian refugees who currently live in an abandoned hotel with their families.
We have also been teaching english and working with english clubs around the city. In these clubs it is a perfect way to share the Gospel with people who don't know Christ and our students have really been stepping out in that and forming relationships with the people that they meet in the clubs. Another ministry we are working with is called Support Ukraine, where we get to teach, play, run kids programs, and be in relationship with Ukrainian Refugee children who have been living in an abandoned Hotel for 4 years because of the war with Russia. We also have spirit led evangelism teams who go out every day into the city and today some of our our students are going with a ministry called Key of Hope where they get to work with Disabled orphans. Also, something cool to note, someone donated a bunch of mini bibles so we also have bible distribution lined up in the near future! Yay!

Overall our team is doing great! Every single ministry we have worked with has commended our team for the willingness to jump right in, be engaged, excited, and build relationships with the people. While in English Club the leaders came up to us and told us how amazed they were at the boldness our students walked in with sharing the gospel. They have also been doing a phenomenal job at building relationships with the people here on base and taking initiative with doing dishes and helping serve whenever they can!

Please Pray

Thank you <<First Name>> so much. I miss you and am so thankful for your prayers and support! Our team wouldn't be here without all of the support and prayers that you have blessed me with! You have played a huge role in what God is doing in Ukraine through our team!
  • Please pray that our team stays healthy. Because it is winter here, quite a few people have been coming down with a nasty cold.
  • Pray for continual favor with our contacts and as our students build relationships with all of the people they meet during ministries and evangelism.
  • Pray that our team would stay unified and focused on the Lord.
  • Bethany and I would appreciate prayer as we work out more details for our 2nd month in Greece. We still need Housing.

Your prayers are coveted, Be blessed!
